HAPPY NEW YEAR!
What a wild and crazy year 2017 turned out to be. Fortunately, there was so much going on in the world of elopements! From more extreme locations to top notch fashion trends, this was definitely a great year to elope.
Despite love everything, there were a few things that I loved more than others and since I love sharing, here are my seven favorite trends in 2017.
Hotels (Boutique or otherwise)
2017 was definitely the year for fashionable hotel elopements and I loooved it! From New York to New Mexico, couples using their hotel rooms or some other place on the hotel grounds as a backdrop gets a “two thumbs up” from me!
Single Layer Cakes
Yeah, I know, not exclusive to 2017, BUT I loved how artistic they have become. It was like 2017 was the year of single tiered awesomeness.
Engagement Sessions at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
As a hardcore Hufflepuff, having The Wizarding World of Harry Potter as a back drop for an engagement session is ALWAYS (wink, wink) a win in my book!
Floral accents took center stage in 2017 and I am here for it. These bouquets have so much body and texture; my eyes and heart are overjoyed to see so much foliage!
Rain (and other forms of not-sunny weather)
Another thing that isn’t exclusive to 2017, but there were more couples taking on the weather this year. It made for gorgeous photos and added so much character.
Texture, color, wide open spaces, wind! So many things to love! The desert (it doesn’t matter which one, they’re all awesome!) has proven time and time again that having a ceremony in the middle of it is a good idea.
The Term “Micro-wedding”
A Micro-wedding is a just a supper small wedding and even though some don’t consider elopements to be a micro-wedding, I would have to disagree. Modern elopements are the ultimate example of a micro version of a wedding. EVERYTHING IS THE SMALLEST VERSON OF A WEDDING (and I love it)!
Even though 2017 has come and gone, these are the seven trends that I can only hope carry into the new year.
