The fact of the matter is: a lot of elopements still happen at random.
For many eloping couples, there elopement was a last minute affair. Running down to the courthouse or a small chapel for a quickie ceremony. No fanfare and no photography.
Whatever reason you may have or may be considering forgoing photography, just know it’s cool. It will not the only chance you will have to capture photos of you and the love of your life in your elopement best!
Whether you eloped a year ago or 10 years ago, an anniversary shoot is a perfect way get the elopement photos you might have missed out on.
Anniversary shoots are a great way to capture you (the lovely couple), all dolled up, surrounded by an area you love, a year (or years) after you’ve already tied the knot. And because this shoot happens so long AFTER the ceremony, this gives you time to save money, find the perfect outfit or the perfect photographer.
Like elopements, anniversary shoots are a laid-back option to day-of photography. These shoots focus completely on the couple enjoying themselves in a place of their choosing.
When I asked photographer, Kelcy of Kelcy Leigh Photography what advice she had for couples who wanted an anniversary shoot she said this:
I always tell my couples that any photos taken after the wedding, but in the wedding attire is a wonderful opportunity for some variation! For example, if your wedding was a formal affair and your hair looked best in a sleek updo that day, wear your hair down and flowing for these photos! Or change up your makeup or lip color! Or wear a flower crown because you love them so much but it didn’t work with your wedding theme. Go to a totally different location than where your wedding photos were taken! These photos are such a great opportunity to document this stage in your life without the pressures of a timeline or hungry guests–take full advantage and make it what YOU want them to be! Change it up and little and have fun with it!
So, what do you think? Does and anniversary shoot sound like something you would do? If so, where would you like to hold this fun photo session?
