Why we eloped: I liked the idea of us having an intimate moment where we were becoming a family. Also, Weddings are expensive! I didn’t want to worry about entertaining guests. Our day was relaxed and amazing.

I loved that we were surprising everyone! A few close family members and friends knew ahead of time. (Had to make sure the parents would be okay with it!) Even though we were eloping we wanted to get dressed up and have that special moment. We made sure to have a photographer to capture the moment since we didn’t have guests. My husband’s daughters were there with us which made the day extra special. Prior to the ceremony I gave each of the girls a love knot ring. Our day wouldn’t have been complete without them. I made a cake so we would have something to celebrate with that day and on our first anniversary.

After the ceremony, we posted a picture to Facebook announcing we were married! The surprise was so much fun. It was a hard secret to keep but totally worth it. After photographs the four of us went to dinner together as a family at eighteen-nighty grill. The restaurant was amazing. My husband and I stayed at the Inn that night and then flew out to Maui the next day. Everything was perfect.

After a week in Maui, we returned to shocked friends. We sent out announcements and invited everyone to celebrate with us at a small reception in August. On our first anniversary we returned to the Inn.

I loved the elopement. I loved the surprise. I loved that it was just us. I would do it again in a heartbeat!
